Around the Lake

Faverges
Nestled between Lake Annecy and the mountains, Faverges-Seythenex hides a fascinating Gallo-Roman past. 2,000 years ago, its present-day hamlet of Viuz — then known as Casuaria — was an important stop along the great Roman road through the Alps. Even today, you can discover the remains of that era, along with its exceptional treasure of more than 2,000 silver coins, buried before the barbarians arrived and now on display at the museum.
Saint-Jorioz
Beach, marshes, mountains — and a 6,000-year-old sunken village whose pile dwellings still slumber beneath the waters of the lake. Saint-Jorioz hides far more than its postcard landscapes. Set off to discover a treasure listed as UNESCO World Heritage.
